Surprise!

Last night we threw Jen & Mark a surprise baby shower at the Thurik's house. Since they are in town for Christmas, and in the UK they don't have baby showers, we thought it would be fun if we surprised them with some baby goodies and had a proper baby shower for Jen with all the baby shower essentials; cupcakes courtesy of Leah and a bunch of decorations and a wonderful meal from Frankie's Pizza & Pasta. As the night went on the guys had a bit too many shots of whiskey and tequila and it turned into what they refered to as a "man shower" and what the girls would refer to as a "s$#t show". It was so fun to all get together while Jen and Mark were in town - Dett was also in town and that was truly wonderful to all be together again. I think they will have to purchase another suitcase before they leave tomorrow as they got a ton of cute baby clothes from all of us - I will leave it up to Jen to post the sex of the baby as they found out last Monday before they left for Seattle. Get a load of Jen's belly button on the second picture and our see-threw outfits - this had us laughing for a good 10 minutes.

Christmas with the Wrights

What a busy yet relaxing weekend we have had. If we didn't have a 4-wheel drive car we would most definitely be stuck out here but luckily we made the best purchase earlier in the year and bought a Subaru. Once again we got about 6 inches last night and are now totaling around 12-15 inches of snow. Troy went off to work this morning so I am literally stuck here all day - luckily I work remotely from home so I can get everything done that needs to be done beofre my office closes.

On Friday Troy and I ventured to Seattle for my monthly appointment where I had to down the not-so-tasty fruity glucola liquid for gluclose testing (this is to test for gestational diabetes), the appointment went great as now that I getting further along Troy and I had more questions for my doctor. He also measured my belly which was kind of fun and checked my weight which was such a relief considering my high weight gain the last time around. I am having a miserable time sleeping at night and have found that putting a pilow inbetween my legs while laying on my left side works the best. It really is true what they say in all these books about laying on your left side as opposed to your right - when I attempt to lay on my right it feels like the baby is going to detach right out of my belly. But all in all everything is going great and I feel good except for a few minor discomforts throughout the day and lack of sleep.

Saturday night we celebrated Christmas with my brother Brandon & SIL Crystal and of course the kids. They are leaving for Tri-Cities this afternoon and won't be back until after Christmas. We went to my parents for a wonderful meal and then exchanged presents. It was quite windy that night and whenever it's the least bit windy our power goes out, so when Troy and I got home of course our power was out and the house was dropping to a low 40 degrees. Luckily it came back on in the middle of the night so we were able to spend all day Sunday watching football.
Here are some pictures from Saturday night of our niece and nephew Jaxon & Campbell

Family/Belly Pics

We finally got batteries for our camera so I thought it would be fun to post a picture of my protruding belly along with a family pic with Kenai of course and our 10 foot + Christmas tree. I wish I had some clue as to how to take pictures as our living room is so cozy with the tree lit up and the mantle, it's a shame I don't know how to take pics in the dark... or maybe its the fact that our camera sucks. It's so funny when we take pictures with Kenai as he'll pose for hours if he thinks he's getting a cookie. He's going to be the best big brother - maybe a bit strange to think this way but as everyone that has a pet knows they are your children before your real babies start coming along.

Happy Holidays!!!!

Cary Brothers

Last night Troy and I, my brother and cousin Merritt went to a concert at the new Snoqualmie casino - the guy we saw was Cary Brothers. Has anyone ever heard of him?
His music is thought of as somewhat folky but has been heard on many television shows including The OC and Scrubs...I did not think he sounded folky at all. He's good buddies with Zach Braff so a few of his songs were on the soundtrack for Garden State, which won a Grammy. Listen to the link below - you may have heard his music. This song is the most recognizable, at least to me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byvvFnzUez0

The concert was really fun and chill but going to a casino for a concert was somewhat irresponsible of me because of the the smoking. At least you couldn't smoke in the lounge while Cary was singing but it was definitely wafting through.

Have a great weekend!

Ahh memories

For some reason I was thinking about my trip to Europe tonight for Jen's wedding - which was over a year ago. It was sureal to roam the streets of Ravello with all the girls after a days worth of drinking wonderful red wine. I will always be thankful to Jen & Mark for inviting the 4 of us to be in their wedding and share in such a wonderful trip. Here are just a few of the many pictures from London & Italy.

This is where Jen, Keri, Dett and I had espresso and croissants every morning - seriously??

....and then back to London

Nursery Pics

We have the bones of our nursery put together with the crib and dresser in place, the rug I found at Lowes and our beautiful fleamarket-looking chandelier (thank you Gary). Now all we need are the curtains (once I find the fabric my Mother-in-law will be creating them), clothes to fill her closet, and lots of decor for the wall. I am in search of the perfect basket to fit the leftover space on the changing table (where the teddy bear is) which will be used for diapers, and then I can go buy the lavender polka-dot basket liners from Pottery Barn kids. All in all it's coming along but we definitely have a lot to do.

Here are a few pictures that I took - you'll notice that the paint doesn't go all the way to the ceiling.. we are doing crown molding, I promise it's not due to my painting ability.

We had a bit of problem with the length of the chandelier since Troy is so tall so we decided to only use one chain link, that's why it looks a bit like a mini-chandelier.

I want to send a heartfelt thanks to my parents and Troy's parents for buying this beautiful nursery furniture, we love it so much and can't wait for your new granddaughter to see it.

I also wanted to say Congratulations to Laurel & Russ for the birth of their baby boy this afternoon around 2pm, Jett James Ortega. He was 7 lbs 7 oz, and from what I have heard Laurel was a complete champ. So much so that right after she got her epidural around 6:45 this morning and was sitting in her hospital bed she gave me a call to let me know she was in labor. She was so chill & relaxed, just like the Laurel we all love.

I cannot wait to meet him.

Can't Wait.

I can't wait to eat my Mom's 21lb Organic Turkey she just picked up from PCC. I also can't wait to spend Thanksgiving with my family along with Troy's Mom who will be joining us at my parents house. Last year we went on a Mexico cruise for Thanksgiving where we feasted on lobster & crab - while it was so much fun but it will be so wonderful to have a traditional feast. I can't wait to wake-up with Troy and watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade while our egg & sausage souffle is cooking in the oven.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving spending time with your loved ones.

Paint samples

Here are the paint samples; they look a bit off from scanning but I think you get the idea. Last night Troy and I painted the room with the Lavender Lace color and it looks nice but very light. Oh God - I'm having second thoughts..... Lavender Lace is the large swatch on the right and Silverberry is the large swatch on the left.

Opinions?

Day of Surprises

I had my monthly routine Dr's appointment yesterday and invited my Mom along; afterwards we were going to do some shopping at U Village. It was sure to be a quick appt. since the monthly routine appts. are to check weight and check your urine for a few things. So I got on the scale (ugh..) peed on the little stick and then waited for the nurse to come get my
Mom and I. We went back into the room did the blood pressure stuff and then Dr. Levine came in. I introduced him to my Mom and the first thing he said was "how about we go into the ultrasound room to check her out so your Mom can have a peak". I was so thrilled since women usually only have 3 u/s throughout the whole pregnancy and my Mom was able to see her on the screen dancing around. I could not believe that he offered this and wasn't expecting to see her for quite a while. It was so special to share this with my Mom.

And when I thought the day couldn't get any better......

One of the main reasons why we went to U Village was to look around at Pottery Barn kids and check out the fun decor stuff they have - mainly these great lavendar polka-dot basket covers. I didn't realize that they carried crib bedding in store so it was fun to look at the stuff that I have been obsessing over for the last month. I saw my bedding that I was planning on ordering online but not in my color so my Mom asked the very helpful saleswoman if they had my color in back. The saleswomen came out with my bumper, skirt, and 2 fitted sheets that matched. I know you must think that I am crazy for even thinking that this is a big deal but I have literally been obsessing over my bedding and when to order it so that fact that it gave me a chance to cross it off my list was way beyond me.
Seriously - just ask Troy, I have been insane for at least 3 weeks now, going on four. So to top everything off I got up to the register to pay for my purchases and the whole crib bedding set went on sale that very day!!!!! Are you freakin kidding me???!!!!!

Troy and I put it on the crib when I got home and it looks even better than I expected. Again call me crazy but I feel like the largest most absurd weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

YIPPEE!!!

Going crazy

Yes that's right - I am officially going crazy. I had a 'minor' meltdown on Sunday (although Troy would say different) all because of the stupid paint that I have yet to choose for the nursery. I can't for the life of me decide if I want to paint the room a neutral taupe color or lavendar. The lavendar samples that I've bought the last couple of days have been too Easter-egg purple and I absolutely do not like those types of colors on walls; light pinks, greens, blues, purples, etc. My aunt and I went out cold-calling this afternoon (something people do in sales jobs not usually with their aunts but we work together) and made a pit stop at Home Depot and looked at some colors. I really needed a third partys' opinion as Troy is changing his mind as much as me. I think I may have limited the colors choices to 2; Lavendar Lace or Silverberry. I could have pretty much ruled out the idea of taupe since I started this post a few minutes ago as I really think a girl's nursery needs to be something besides a neutral color. If I do lavendar looking walls then I can accent with limes, chocolates, blues, even pinks (maybe) but if I do a taupe room then my color choices are limited due to the different shades of taupe - lavendar doesn't look very nice up against taupe.

I'm beginning to sound like a schitzo.

Getting started

So Troy and I picked up the crib this weekend and put it together. I absolutely love it and am so happy with our choice. I had been looking on the internet for months trying to find the perfect set and had no clue that JC Penney's carried furniture, but apparently they do. We should be ordering the dresser/changer in the next week or so and then the majority of the furniture will be in the room. I'm excited to start painting and visualize where to go from there.

We've decided on lavendar, chocolate and cream or white as our colors and were going to put up this great damask wallpaper that I found but realized that it was going to limit us on the decor. For some reason I've been obsessed with damask and found a great picture of a nursery with damask curtains, so I think that's how I will incorporate the design element into the room. I'm going to ask my Mother-in-law to make them (although she doesn't know this yet) since I would be a mess trying to contruct curtains. I can't wait!!!

I'm really trying to get a good belly pic but the side view Troy took last night looked funny so here is a frontal shot.

Last night

Troy and I headed over to my parents house last night to have dinner with my Mom as my Dad is out of town for a few days. She made the best flank steak tacos with pickled onions, cilantro and a great mexican pesto-type rub. My contribution was a mixed greens salad with toasted green pumpkin seeds and a creamy lime vinaigrette. As some of you know it's not unusual for my Mom to cook a fantastic meal as this is a daily occurrence for her -this is where I get my love of cooking.

Even though the meal was fantastic and my Mom and Troy were enjoying what I think is the best wine around (Molly Dooker The Scooter), the absolute hands down best part of the night was when we were in the kitchen preparing the meal and my baby started kicking quite a bit so I grabbed my Mom's hand and put it on my belly. The look on her face was truly priceless as I don't think she expected such a forceful kick.
Can you imagine the feeling you get as a Mom when feel your daughter's daughter kick in her belly.....it was a really great moment.

Let's Reminisce

For some reason the last few days I have been thinking about my college experience when I didn't have a care in the world. A few nights ago while Troy and I were watching TV I asked him if he ever stopped at the Bookie on the way to class while it was snowing to get some coffee.... Weird question huh?? I have no idea why I brought that up to him but it just popped into my head as a regular significant college moment.
Michelle and I were chatting back and forth via email this afternoon talking about our Friday afternoons in college and how we remember them like they were yesterday; go to class (maybe), get coffee at Starbucks, go tanning at Body Magic, go to Moscow to buy a gross shirt from Macy's for some 'exchange' that night, eat dinner at DG's, then get ready with a house full of fun girls. It was so easy back then. You didn't have to work to keep in touch with people and as Michelle put it, all of your best friends were in a 4 block radius.

I am so greatful for my college experience and I have no doubt that college helped mold me into the woman I am today. I hope every WSU alum realizes how lucky we were to have lived in such a remote place like Pullman which forced us to be such a tight knit community.

If only I could go back in time for just a weekend for one last hoorah...wouldn't that be nice?

Enjoy these funny pictures that I found.(check out Michelle's crimped hair)

I missed out

I sure wish I would have elected to trash my absentee ballot and instead voted at the local church with Troy; I think I would have felt more involved...

Let's keep our fingers crossed that the right person wins....we all know who that is.

Weekend of pleasure

I will start off this post with saying that this was a wonderful weekend full of great happenings.

On Halloween, Troy and I stayed in and we made a wonderful baked gourmet Mac & cheese and handed out candy to the cute trick-or-treaters that came to our house, we had about 15 total and were worried we were going to run out of candy. It was so nice to be at home, relax and watch fun scary movies.
Kenai watching the kids walking around the neighborhood

Saturday was pretty chill with it being quite rainy, we just stayed inside and dinked around the house. I took this chance to clean the house since it was in need of a deep cleaning and Troy decided to organize and clean my office which continues to drive me crazy - but I appreciate it. Later in the day when I was reading, the baby started moving quite a bit and you could actually see my belly moving along with it. I screamed bloody murder for Troy who was upstairs and he flew down and was able to feel her for the first time - it was pretty incredible. She has continued moving like this all weekend which makes me thing she has gone through a major growth spurt in the last few days since her movements are so obvious now. Not at all like the 'butterfly feeling' that most books talk about but more like kicking and rolling in my belly. What is really weird is when she positions herself right on my bladder and all of a sudden I feel so much pressure and my belly gets super tight and hard right where she is - it must be her butt or head.

Last but not least Sunday was Laurel's baby shower and it was so much fun to be with everyone, especially Laurel who looks like she is going to pop anyday now. She is due in 4 weeks and her Dr. already says she has a 6 lb. baby inside of her....oh geez. Here are some pics from yesterday...

I feel her!

So I can officially say that she is moving around in there....and I feel it. I tried explaining it today to Jeanne and Keri over Thai food but I don't think I did the explanation justice. It feels like a little finger pushing on the inside of your belly, but it is such a slight movement that you almost have to be waiting for it to happen.

I'm so anxious for Troy to feel her which will hopefully happen in the next month.

Half way there

I hit the 20 week mark today; seems like it has taken forever but then again my weeks and days seem to fly by. Still waiting to 'pop' as everyone says they do around 20 weeks, not really happening yet but hopefully in the next couple of weeks it will. I had Troy take some belly pics last night but they sort of looked ridiculous as they look like I'm just sticking my belly out - was going to post them but think I'll hold off. My clients are finally starting to ask if I'm expecting (which is a pc way to ask if I'm pregnant) which I suppose means that my belly is protruding a bit more than I think. So risky to ask someone that question but they do see me on a regular basis and have been for years now so it's nice that they feel comfortable enough to ask me.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week, and a great Halloween.

Weekend with the Haighs

Troy and I had some house guests this weekend; his dad and his wife Deb were here visiting us since Thursday and we had a lovely time with them. They live in Charleston, SC. so we only get to see them once a year while in Alaska however Troy sees his Dad every November when they meet up in Wisconsin at their familys' dairy farm for deer hunting. So it was a treat to have them stay with us especially since the weather was incredible with the leaves changing and clear crisp skies - they don't get to enjoy the 'fall' weather in SC like we do here so they loved all the changing colors.

Yesterday we hiked Rattlesnake Lake off of I-90 and it was a perfect day to get outdoors; not too cold to be outside and not too warm to be hiking. The hike is only 4 miles round trip so it was a piece of cake but perfect for a Saturday afternoon. I am quite proud of myself that I don't let my pregnancy get in the way of outdoor activities that Troy and I love to do. After the hike we went to the North Bend Bar & Grill for some beer and lunch. It was painful watching Troy, Larry and Deb enjoy their Mac & Jacks Amber after a great hike but they had O'Douls Amber (which is quite tasty) so it was good enough for me.

Last night we went and saw The Secret Life of Bees which was a really cute movie and then came home and watched a bit of a late football game and said our goodbyes as they went to bed to get up at 5am for a 7am flight.

All in all we had a wonderful time and I can't wait to see them again come March when the baby is here.

Drum Roll please.....

Troy and I are excited to announce that we are having a little girl. The appointments went great and she is right on schedule with her growth. I'm about 18 1/2 weeks so hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will finally get to feel her.

The countdown begins

Tomorrow at noon Troy and I will find out the sex of the baby, I can't believe the day is almost here - and as Katie put it, "it feels like your waiting for Christmas". I cannot sit still and thank god work is quite busy right now so I'm not sitting here in my office thinking about it ALL DAY LONG. This will definitely make it seem more real and I'm quite stoked to not have to call it "IT" anymore. There seems to be a 50/50 thought between family and friends whether we're having a boy or a girl; friends think it's a girl and all the family thinks it's a boy.

We'll just have to wait and see. Stay tuned for tomorrow around 5pm.

Have a great day!

Maternity clothes here I come....

Today is the first day I decided to wear maternity clothes; not because I really need to yet but because my regular jeans are becoming a bit too tight around the waist, and the belly band is not the most comfortable thing in the world. When you use the belly band you don't need to zip up your pants (which is good since I can't anymore) but sometimes the band rides up a bit too far and that leaves a nice show for people that just so happen to look towards your zipper.

The first maternity clothes purchase is a pair of Mavi jeans (thanks to Katies suggestion) that my Mom bought me at Mimi Maternity and they are so so comfortable. They are actually super cute as well and almost look like old-school Levis. The band is super thin and you don't even notice it's there even if I'm wearing a thin tank - it just blends right in. It's going to be such a nice change tonight at EL T's to not have to unzip my pants after I stuff my face with Mexican food...and then proceed down the street to DQ to get a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Blizzard. I can't Wait!

Super stupid pic but Troy was outside messing with the boat so I had to take this myself

Birthday Boy!

Happy '32nd' Birthday to my wonderful husband!
You are by far the most amazing person I know.

Monday, September 22, 2008

Opinion please

I have been throwing around the idea of getting pregnancy pictures taken when I'm further along but I have my doubts. All the photos I see are of half naked women exposing both breasts or at least nipples and practically showing their full butt. Maybe a women's modesty goes out the window when she is large and pregnant but I'm not sure I could be that exposing to a photographer - and would I want to display these in my home?

I welcome any and all opinions on this matter...

It's Twitch!!!!

Not that Troy and I enjoy reality shows at all, although we do get obsessed with The Biggest Loser, but I have to admit our favorite of all time is So You Think You Can Dance. During each season of this show, I think there have been 4, we zone ourselves out for the 2 hours each week that it airs; unfortunately the show airs once a year for a few months so its a long time coming for the next season. Why am I talking about a silly reality show you ask.......???

Last night Troy and I went to the Puyallup Fair as most people do around this time of year. Since I couldn't go on rides and Troy wasn't into going on rides by himself or possibly getting stuck in a 2-seater with a crazy person, we decided to eat everything that crossed our paths. We also mozied along the exhibition halls looking at crafty stuff or special mop cleaners/nail art/food choppers/gourmet spices, etc. which seem to have not changed a bit since the 80's. Wouldn't you think that the fair supervisors would try to get some updated vendors to display
their "amazing products that can change the world"??? Nope.

So after we had had enough of the walking and horrible indigestion we decided it was time to leave. As we were walking out of the gates in awe of the truly amazing people that populate the fair grounds this time of year, I spotted a somewhat familiar face.... then another, then another. I couldn't for the life of me spit out my words to Troy that the top 10 crew from So You Think You Can Dance was in line buying tickets to the fair. Troy then turned around and saw who and what I was pointing at and couldn't believe his eyes. There was Comfort, Will, Gev, Chelsie, Mark, Joshua and last but not least Twitch, our favorite right in front of us. These people whom we devoted our lives to for the last 3 months. Of course Troy and I being the balsy people that we are walked right up to them and I blurted to Twitch "what are you doing here"? He went on to tell us that they have a show at the Tacoma Dome Sunday night and are in town so decided to go to the fair. Of course Twitch being the incredible nice person that he is introduced himself to Troy and I (like we didn't know who he was) and we shook his hand in amazement. We went on to blabber that we loved the show and were their biggest fans, blah, blah, blah, then told him it was very nice meeting him and walked away. What a moment! As we were walking to the car we were like giddy kids after seeing someone famous - even though they really are just a bunch of teenagers/early twenties kids.

So that was my night, couldn't have been better. I just wish I had my camera with me as Troy and I would've been the coolest cats on the block.

What a weekend!

Usually my weekends seems to drag on which definitely isn't a negative thing but this weekend absolutely flew by.

Friday night Troy and I went to my 10 year high school reunion at Pravda Studios on Capitol Hill and had a really great time catching up with friends and introducing Troy to some old friends that I haven't seen in years. We met up with the old crew and their husbands/fiances beforehand at Barca for some quick drinks before heading over to the reunion - was nice to catch up with the girls before everyone played the meet and greet game which is what is felt like.

I have to make a quick mention about our dinner on Saturday before the engagement party. I have been craving pizza in the worst way so I talked Troy into going to this place called Tutta Bella (http://www.tuttabellapizza.com/) which is off Rainier in Seattle (the nicer area of Rainier). Their pizza is just as good as what we had in Italy with the thin crust, awesome tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella or goat cheese, and a variety of different unusual toppings. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes a good pizza; and if by chance you want a salad beforehand their house mixed greens is unlike any normal mixed greens and is truly amazing.

Sunday we got to babysit Hayden which is my friend Leslie's daughter - she turns 2 in December and could quite possibly be the most precious little human in the world. She can't really talk yet but thinks she can, so she walked around the house talking gibberish in the cutest little girl voice I have ever heard. She was so happy the entire time and when it got a bit later in the night and she was getting tired she grabbed her book, blanket and binky and climbed up on our couch and plopped herself inbetween Troy and I and read the book to herself (she obviously can't read yet so she was just talking nonsense). This was possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen and Troy and I couldn't stop laughing. Each time we watch her it gets us just a little more prepared for what lays ahead, and if our child is anything like Hayden (boy or girl) we will be thrilled. I tried to take some pictures but each time she moved her head at the exact moment the flash went off.

Have a great week!!

Life is good

I have to admit that life right now can't seem to get any better..... The weather is amazing, my pregnancy is going so smoothly with no hic-ups, work is great as always, and my husband is being ever so patient with me. I love waking up early in the morning to just sort of walk around my house feeling so completely at ease and so blesses that Troy and I have what we have, it definitely helps that the sun is shining so bright.

Yesterday afternoon Jeanne and I took Leah out for lunch for her birthday to the ever engaging Broadway Grill - the people watching up there is enough to make the trek to Capitol Hill... who needs lunch. Then last night I met the girls at Matador for our usual happy hour drinks and appetizers (water for me) and had such a great time laughing and talking about our typical girly stuff. Katie was able to take a few hours off from the twins and enjoy some time with the girls as well. Troy and I are going to my high school reunion tonight which I'm really looking forward to and tomorrow we have an engagment party that should be absolutely wild; whenever Danny and Liz have a big party it turns into a fun crazy mess - can't wait!

The pregnancy is going very well, we had an ultrasound last Friday for the 1st trimester genetic screening. My Doctor called me yesterday and my results came back 'perfect' were his words. I wasn't worried but nice to know that we have a healthy baby. Today I'm about 13 weeks and 2 days and I feel really good, just a bit tired which actually came later than usual.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend...try to take a few moments to enjoy life and what you have.

It's our Anniversary....

2 Years ago today at Willows Lodge in Woodinville Troy and I made a promise to spend the rest of our lives together. After Troy being away for a month climbing Denali and summiting, along with all of his other expeditions as well as the excitement and wonder of getting ready for a baby I think we've had a pretty wonderful two years.

September 1, 2006 was the best day of our lives and I feel so fortunate to have such a wonderful husband who is also my very best friend. Here are a few pictures from our wedding....

11 Week......gross!

So today I'm offically 11 weeks and I have to admit there is nothing great about being 11 weeks pregnant. I have broken out with the worst possible case of adult acne that you can get and I look like I should be going through puberty instead of pregnancy, but thats what the books say to look forward to....awesome. Do any of you DG's remember when I used to wash my face at night and then put that white zit crap all over my face, well history repeats itself - and yes Troy LOVES it. Totally kidding, along with it being absurdly unattractive it also bleaches our duvet cover and pillows when I go to bed. I also seem to have grown a small little potbelly on either side of my belly button that I have tried my whole like to keep flat.....sweet. The docs say that this will all go away along with my nausea once I reach the beginning of my second trimester, so please keep my zits in your thoughts.

On another note, the Coug game is tomorrow and Troy and I have made it a tradition to get there super early with the pooper and grab a spot to tailgate with all of our friends, really looking forward to it. I must say though it will be quite different this year for me without the hardcore boozing all day and staying out until all hours, at least I'll feel chipper Sunday morning whilst everyone else is hating life. However, it will be a great day anyways seeing old friends and... oh yeah watching the football game.

We have our next appointment a week from today which will be an ultrasound and some blood work, at that point we will be in the last week of my first trimester - YEAH!

Cheers to a great holiday weekend!

10 Weeks.... Due date - March 20th, 2009!

Troy and I decided to start this blog to update family and friends on the progress of this little bugger that is growing inside my belly - but also... because I have become obsessed with blogs that my friends and friends of friends have created so I had no choice but to create my own.

We had our first ultrasound last week after what seemed like years of waiting for the appointment. We wanted to be sure that everything was going as it should and that there was a strong heartbeat so we were hesitant to even talk about it with family and friends. I'm not sure if this was just paranoia or normal first-time-parent hesitations. As it turns out of course the appointment went off without a hitch except for the fact that Troy and I were in total awe for the next few days and seemed to be floating in space. I don't think anything could have prepared us for that perfect little picture that popped up on that ultrasound machine. Immediately the baby's little heart was beating well over a hundred times a minute and it was clear as day on the mini t.v. that was set up. Then without warning the baby started moving all across the screen swimming around, flailing its hands and legs everywhere. I swear I thought either myself or Troy were going to faint any minute. Luckily that didnt happen and we ended the appointment with a knowledge that our due date is March 20th. Along with that is the absolute facsination that we have a small human that is growing inside my stomach which was made equally by the two of us. Incredible!
On a lighter note - the photo shown in this post is from our honeymoon after about 10 shots of tequila, hence Troy looking like a cartoon character....
