B vs. B

Last night Troy and I made a halibut dinner for some friends and as usual the guys were outside by the fire drinking beer (until it started snowing) and the girls were around the kitchen table chatting about random stuff. Keri and I were comparing bellies and decided it would be funny to take a picture. At almost 17 weeks she is definitely showing, but I can't wait until she gets to be my size so she really starts to have some fun.

Omega-3

I stuffed my face with salmon tonight and it tased so wonderful!
Although I absolutely love fish, it starts to get old when you have almost 100 lbs of salmon and halibut in your freezer so I haven't been as good about fixing it. But, I was craving it this week so I decided to get some out of the freezer. We vacuum pack the kings in pretty large fillets so I had a huge piece all to myself - Troy opted to fry up some halibut instead. I prepared some gnocchi with pine nuts and wilted spinach to go with it (from the February issue of Cooking Light) and I have to say it was one of the best. I used the wonderful Tom Douglas Salmon Rub along with olive oil for the salmon and grilled it on my Longhi grill. I have never taken pictures of my dinner but it turned out so pretty I just couldn't resist.

On another note - here is a recent belly pic at 32 1/2 weeks. I think Troy is getting sick of taking belly pictures so they are getting more and more blurry and are never centered. My butt and legs look like they weight 50 lbs each because of the shadows but I promise they're really not as bad as they look -- although my face is starting to look a bit pudgy....right Keri?

I would like to give a big THANK YOU...

..to Stephenie Meyer for writing fun, obsession-worthy books that just so happen to to be the cause of my dreams/nightmares this week. Although they change all the time, last night in particular I was dreaming that I was giving birth to a baby vampire and in the process she was breaking all of my bones. Funny thing is I didn't wake up scared - probably because after reading those books I wouldn't mind if I turned into a vampire.....as long as I could live with the Cullen's.

Big Brother

Yes I know some people may think it's silly to feel this way about a dog but Troy and I think of Kenai as the baby's big brother. Recently we have been saying things to him like "Kenai what's in Momma's belly - is that your little sister?" or "Kenai let's go upstairs to the nursery". Does this sound like I'm a few screws short? Maybe - but let me tell you that Kenai has definitely been a key factor in preparing Troy and I for a baby... as far as responsibilites go. As most young couples with dogs can attest to, they become your baby/child therefor getting you ready for the real deal.

Just now when I didn't know where he was and was looking all over the house - I found him here.

When this was simply our guestroom he never ventured in here, but now he seems to be in here at least once a day. Maybe he does get it - could dogs really be that smart????

*As a side note, the reason why I am taking pictures of my dog in the middle of a work day is because I work from home... I promise I'm not just a lazy piece of s$%t.

30 Weeks....

....AND FEELING GREAT!

I feel like I have reached yet another milestone and I can't believe I only have 10 weeks or less until our little baby comes. At the beginning of the pregnancy everything goes so slow (as most pregnant woman can relate to) but then once you get to this point you feel like time is moving so fast that there aren't enough days to get everything taken care of. We had out first childbirth prep class on Tuesday and will have 5 more until the middle of February - it was really interesting and will be very helpful for myself and Troy.

Hope everyone had a wonderful New Year's and here's to an awesome 2009!
