Dress up

Westyn and I have been playing dress-up quite a bit these days as her 3 month outfits which are so darling are starting to get too small so I wanted her to wear them at least once even if it means wearing 5 outfits per day. She has fun with me for the first few outfits and then she starts to get a bit cranky which is understandable seeing that I'm pulling and tugging on her little arms and legs.

Today marks her 2 month birthday so Troy and I took her to her 2-month Dr's appointment this morning for her first round of shots. She was a real trooper and didn't really cry at all; she actually fell asleep immediately afterwards. Today she weighed in at 13 pounds and 23 1/4 inches long - she is in the 95% for both. The doc called her a beautiful chunky baby and I couldn't agree more.

Here are some pics from our dress-up session this afternoon.

this is from last night before bedtime..so cute

8 weeks old already....?

Or does it seem like we have had Westyn forever?? These past 8 weeks seem to have flown by, but then again it seems like Westyn's "birth" day was years ago and she should be going on 3.

I'll be the first to admit that having a newborn baby is hard work especially if you were very selfish with your time like Troy and I 'used' to be. Now our nights are totally devoted to giving Westyn baths, scrambling to eat dinner by 5:30 pm, calming her down while she cries from 7-9pm EVERY NIGHT (she is at the stage where she fights sleeping so she cries for hours at a time), and then possibly, just maybe having a few minutes to ourselves while she's in her swing....nah nevermind scratch that last statement because that hasn't happened in.... well.... exactly 8 weeks and 2 days. But as hard and exhausting as it is, I wouldn't change it for anything. She is AMAZING, literally, and growing and evolving into this little girl everyday.

When we get her to smile and make her precious little noises it makes my heart do these little leaps that I didn't know they could do. I love my little family so much and enjoy each new day that we have together.

On another note, as a tribute to Mother's Day, I wanted to wish every Mom; new and old or almost, a very Happy Mother's Day. I also wanted to thank my Mom for being the most amazing person I know and for being the very best friend that she is. I am so fortunate that they live only a few minutes from us which makes it easy to pop in whenever I want, which I do often. Thank you for helping me as much as you do and being the ear that I need 8 times a day when I call with worries about Westyn or simple recipe questions. Love you!

Without further ado, here is the little munchkin at 8 weeks.

The Beach

This last weekend Troy and I decided to get out of town and head to the ocean. Our friends Dave and Kelly have a place in Long Beach so they invited us for the weekend at their perfect little cabin. The weather didn't really cooperate but it was fun regardless. Kenai had the best time as he had never been to the ocean/real beach before and he loved all the running he could do since it went on forever. However, it was hard to be so far from home as I stressed out over the littlest things that had to do with Westyn; stuffy nose, watery poop, sweating too much.....you name it. I have become a paranoid Mom! I don't think we'll venture so far away for a few more months until Westyn gets a bit older. The Canal will definitely be a sufficient getaway for a while, which is more than fine with me.
Here are a few pics from the weekend.

I just love here little face when she's sleeping - her button nose is sooo cute

New Mum

Congratulations to Jen & Mark on the arrival of your new son Calum who I can imagine is just beautiful. Still awating some pictures. He was born via c-section early this morning London time after 2 hours of pushing; Jen was drug-free leading up to the c-section.. crazy girl!!

We are all so happy for you both and can't wait to meet the new Mr. Verghese come September. Westyn is especially excited to meet him as he will be her token English friend.

She is trying to show her excitement

1 Month Report Card

Westyn is 5 weeks today but she had her 1 month check up this morning and I have to say that I am once again proud of my little girl. Our pediatrician said that she had to keep reminding herself that Westyn is a 1 month old since she looks and has the strength of a 2+ month old.
She weighs 11lbs 2 ozs and is in the 97% for weight and 22 1/2 inches long coming in at the 95% for height. We have definitely produced a larger than average baby but we couldn't be happier with her progress. She is eating better than I could have imagined and is sometimes giving me a 4 hour stretch at night, which seems like a full night sleep these days.

Troy and I broke out our video camera last night and were messing around with filming so hopefully I'll figure out how to post the videos soon. Westyn is thisclose to showing us her smile so maybe in the next few days we'll get a real one.

Happy Days

I don't want to jinx myself but I think that I'm settling into mommyhood in a great way. My body has now gotten used to waking up every 2-2 1/2 hours at night so I'm not a zombie anymore throughout the day and I'm beginning to feel like myself again. I've even made dinner twice this week although Troy should take some credit as he is usually the one to finish things since Westyn tends to get hungry right in the middle of cooking.....I really actually plan it this way.

Not a lot more to report except that Westyn is growing and changing everyday. I think she is only a few days away from smiling and is making the cutest noises I have ever heard. Last week my friend from college, Erin Coffey came over to take some pictures of Westyn and I can't wait to see all of them. For those of you that haven't seen them, here are a few below. Coffey is a wonderful photographer and is so extremely patient, she captured some amazing pictures of Westyn that I know Troy and I will cherish forever. Thank you!!!!

We have Westyn's 1 month dr. appt. next week so I'll have more to post then.

This picture was taken after we gave Westyn her first very successful bath

Westyn's first trip to the Canal

This weekend we went away to our cabin at the Hood Canal and introduced Westyn to her soon-to-be summer playground. It was SO NICE to get away from the house and spend the weekend eating, drinking wine (finally), and spending time with my little family. My parents were also there so they spoiled us rotten (as usual) with our favorite wines and a wonderful dinner on Saturday night and even better breakfast this morning - they are so good to us. The weather was absolutely beautiful and it was so hard to leave this afternoon but I'm sure we will be back very soon as Westyn slept better there than she has since she was born; my parents swear it's the salty air. Also, since I wasn't able to waterski this last summer due to my being preggo, I will be itching to get on that ski come Memorial Day weekend.

Here are some pics from the weekend.
